Second Sunday of Advent

Second Sunday of Advent: PEACE

Mighty God

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

He Himself is our peace (Ephesians 2:14)

Peace I leave you. My peace I give to you… (John 14:27)

We pause to embrace peace and preparation, reflecting on Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and the peace that Christ’s birth brings.

Where do you need peace in your life?

Who else needs peace? Bring their need to our Mighty God.

Get still. Take 2 or 3 deep breaths.

“Lord, You are the Mighty God. I give You my busy-ness and worries” (name them)

Take a deep breath

“I acknowledge Your presence with me, and I receive the peace You freely give me.”

Hark the herald angels sing "Glory to the newborn King!Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled"

(Hark the Herald, Angels Sing)

…sleep in heavenly peace…

(Silent Night)
