Do you want to join me in an experiment this year?
I am always asking my family silly questions like, "What if I skipped everywhere instead of walking?" or "What if I talked like this (singing every word in an operatic voice)?" They love it. They do, and one day they will realize it.
To wonder and imagine is such a gift. Lately I have been wondering:
What would it be like if I really believed
God is who He says He is?
that I am who He says I am?
that others are who He says they are?
What about you? What would be different in your life? How would you feel? How would you interact with God? With others? In your family? In your work? I think it would be life changing.
Back to my original question: Do you want to join me in an experiment this year?
Let's focus on who God says He is... we are... and who others are.
It will take some intentionality and effort. Becoming aware of what we really think and believe disrupts the autopilot setting in our mind. We will need a plan. Each of our plans will look a bit different. We are different people with different circumstances. I am thinking that I will focus on my first thoughts in the morning. It is easy for me to let my first thought be all I need to do that day or things I haven't done, things like that. I think I will focus instead on asking,
"God, what do you want me to know about who You are this morning?"
"What do You want me to know about who You say I am?"
(I believe these two things will change how I see others, but...)
"What do You want me to know about (whoever comes to mind)?"
I will start with one step- asking the first question until it becomes a habit.
I really believe this has the potential to change everything. I am excited. I so hope you will join me.
May 2025 be a year of beautiful encounters with God. May we believe Him and live in the truth and beauty of who He is, who He says we are, and who He says others are.
Happy New Year!
Love,
Jamie
